Guidelines

Email your submissions to sturgeonreview@gmail.com in .pdf form. Up to 3 pieces of any genre (see below for further specificities) may be submitted per submission. Include a 25-50 word author’s bio written in the third person that will be published along with your piece in the Sturgeon Review. The subject line should be as follows: [First and Last Name].

If your submission does not adhere to the guidelines we have provided, it will be rejected.

We at the Sturgeon Review believe that creativity knows no bounds and certainly cannot be limited by a ‘genre,’ so if you think that your piece is a perfect fit for us in a genre that is not listed below, feel free to include it in your submission!

(While we won’t discriminate against lengthier pieces, we ask it is roughly around the parameters listed below. We want your weird and punchy pieces.)

Poetry

About 500 words or less. Prose poetry is welcome.
Fiction

About 2,000 words or less. Flash fiction pieces are welcome and looked favorably upon.

Nonfiction

About 2,000 words or less. Essays, interviews, and profiles are also welcome. This is not a place to submit your research papers- please do your best to adhere to our creative mission.

Dramatic Writing

10-15 pages or less. Dramatic writing encapsulates both screenwriting and playwriting.
